Frequently Asked Questions
Are your chargers compatible with all electric vehicles?

Yes. Our chargers support all global mainstream charging standards: AC (Type 1, Type 2, GB/T) and DC (CCS1, CCS2, CHAdeMO, GB/T). They work seamlessly with virtually all EV models from Tesla, BYD, Volkswagen, BMW and other major brands worldwide.

How safe are Suntree charging products?

All products hold global certifications (CE, CB, UKCA, TUV) and feature comprehensive safety protections: RCD leakage protection, overvoltage/overcurrent, overheating, short circuit and ground protection. They also offer up to IP67 dust/water resistance and IK08/IK10 impact resistance for reliable outdoor operation.

What smart management features do you offer?

Our solutions support intelligent APP/RFID control, real-time monitoring, remote scheduling, dynamic load balancing, and OCPP 1.6J/2.0 protocol for third-party platform integration. We also provide complete PV+ESS+EV integrated solutions for clean energy self-consumption.

What after-sales and global support do you provide?

We offer standard manufacturer warranty for all products, 24/7 technical support, and remote troubleshooting. With global project experience across Europe, Asia and North America, we provide end-to-end services from site survey and installation to commissioning and long-term maintenance.

Why do chargers from different manufacturers supporting the same OCPP version behave differently?

OCPP specifications contain many optional functional modules, not all of which are fully implemented by every manufacturer.

What is the difference between OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0?

OCPP 2.0 is a major upgrade, adding features such as Plug & Charge (ISO 15118), enhanced smart charging, and fine-grained device management. It also mandates TLS encryption and mutual authentication using digital certificates.

Which OCPP version do the chargers support?

Suntree chargers support the OCPP 1.6J protocol or the OCPP 2.0 protocol.

Does an OCPP charger require a public IP address?

OCPP communication is typically initiated by the charger (WebSocket), so a public IP address is not required. The charger only needs internet access to connect to the backend platform. If the backend needs to actively push configurations or perform real-time control to the charger, the charger only needs to keep the WebSocket connection open to enable two-way communication.

Will an OCPP connection interruption affect ongoing charging?

No. An interrupted OCPP connection during a normal charging process has no effect on the running charging process. When the connection is restored, the charger sends the snapshots of the charging process to the backend. The charger retains the data and uploads it once the connection is reestablished.

What’s OCPP?

OCPP is an open and universal communication protocol used for communication between EV chargers and central management systems (such as charging network operation platforms). Only when a charger has the OCPP function can it be used for commercial purposes.

Do you have your own APP? Can it charge?

Our App is just for home use. You can check some charging information and make some settings on the APP, like adjusting the charging current, schedule the charging time.

If you want to use the charger for commercial use. I recommend you find a local billing platform to cooperate with. Our chargers support OCPP. It can be connected with the billing platform. And our customers who want to achieve commercial use all do it this way.

Can your charger use NFC? If I lose the RFID card, what should I do?

Yes, please tell us when you place the order if prefer with NFC function. We have some blank RFID card, we suggest that you keep some of them as storage.
